Dreamtime Theme Camp Registration

Please read below before submitting an application.

The deadline for submitting a theme camp registration is June 1st, 2008. After that, you may still be able to offer a theme camp, but it won't be included in the printed program guide. The sooner we have them, the better!

Thanks for offering to bring a theme camp to Dreamtime!

Some things to consider:

Dreamtime is located in high desert and is full of rocks, cactus, sagebrush, small trees, and uneven ground.
There is very little natural shade in the area. If your goal is daytime visitors/activities, a shade structure is recommended.
This is a Leave No Trace event and there is a possibility of high winds, lightning, and/or rainstorms. You must design your project so that it will not drip, "shed", blow apart, or short out (electrical) when exposed to wind or rain.
Your camp may be assigned to an area that has no natural anchors for guy lines. Assume you must use rebar stakes (with safety caps) to secure your structures.
The ground can be very hard in some spots and very soft in others, and your camp may not be located on perfectly smooth flat land.
Visitors to your camp *will* explore any area or structure they can access. Dangerous areas or sensitive equipment not intended for public access/tampering should be physically blocked or guarded at all times.
We reserve the right to remove projects from the event site. If you think you will be making controversial statements with a project within your camp, include this information with your proposal. Controversy alone is not grounds to deny placement but we do want the opportunity to find the optimum location for such work.
All Rules apply to theme camps. Please go over them thoroughly before registering.

Submitting a questionnaire does not automatically grant you space or permission to do everything you've proposed. You will get a response outlining allotted space, placement, and allowable activities.

*Description - Please describe briefly what your theme camp will be about. (This is not the text that will be on the web site; this is an explanation for the logistics team):

*Land requirements - How much space will you need for your entire camp (including public area and personal camping areas)? Please be realistic.

*Structures - Briefly describe the rough dimensions (L x W x H) and construction materials of your structure(s)?

*Scheduling - What day will your camp be arriving at Dreamtime? Will you need early admission (before noon Friday) for set-up and/or extended time afterwards for teardown? Anyone on site outside of the official festival hours (noon Friday to noon Monday) will be required to notify us ahead of time and fill out a liability waiver.

*Amplified sound? - Is your camp interested in providing amplified music? If so, please describe the wattage of your sound system, hours of operation, any planned enclosure (i.e. a tent or closed dome), and type of music or sounds that will be amplified.

*If you are interested in providing amplified music, please note that there is a limited capacity for sound systems at the event, and sharing is highly encouraged. Would you be willing to allow others to use your sound system/stage? Would you be interesed in including acts that have applied to perform on the center stage? (if your camp is not bringing sound, please enter N/A)

*Generator? - Will your camp have a generator? If so, what are your plans to help quiet or dissipate the sound (please refer to Rules section for noise restrictions)?

We are interested in info on renting or sharing a cheap, non-polluting biodiesel generator or biodiesel fuel for your diesel generator?

*Hours - What are the planned hours for activity at your camp?

*Rating - If your theme camp was a movie, how would it be rated?

*Safety - Are there any potential safety concerns or health hazards surrounding the structures or activities at your camp? If so, describe them and your plan for preventing accidents.

*Location request - Do you have any specific location requests? If so, why? (Every attempt will be made to accommodate your needs, but we can make no guarantees.)

Check here if you would like your camp to be place away from amplified sound (we cannot guarantee quiet camping, only quietER camping areas - remember to bring your earplugs).

*Weatherproofing - Have you planned for weatherproofing all elements of your camp such that nothing will drip, "shed", blow apart, or short out (electrical) if exposed to wind or rain.

*Leave No Trace - What is your plan for cleaning up your camp and Leaving No Trace?

*Fire - Assuming there is not a fire ban in place, would you like your camp to be considered for one of the limited number of fire barrel permits? This means bringing your own barrel and wood, securing it according to our location and safety specifications, and possibly sharing the barrel with another camp. In addition, you will have to thoroughly outline a monitoring and fire safety plan for the barrel AT ALL TIMES. Lit burn barrels can NEVER be left unattended.
