Dreamtime Grant and Scholarship Application

Please read below before submitting an application.

Who can apply?
Dreamtime accepts applications from musicians, performance artists, artists, workshop leaders, and theme camp facilitators who have already filled out a registration or application form.

What kind of music, art, workshops and performances are funded?
We fund musical groups, performances, art installations, workshops, and theme camps that will further the aims of Dreamtime to inspire, educate, connect and empower people to create positive change in the world through a dynamic blend of arts, education, and celebration. We fund activities that are creative, have a positive and proactive message, and encourage participation, interaction and reflection. We like activities that are multi-disciplinary and can be experienced with multiple senses or include multiple mediums, and incite people to challenge the traditional perspective of music, teaching, learning, performance and art.

What can be requested?
Dreamtime is a 100% participant-funded and staffed event. You, and everyone else, should arrive at the gates ready to become involved in our temporary community, to help enhance the overall experience for everyone, and with the intent to fully embrace the creative, participatory nature of the event. Dreamtime is an effort made by the community for the community; everyone involved purchases a ticket in order to support the event and for the privilege of attending. Each and everyone of us are performers, students, teachers and facilitators at Dreamtime. This concept of participation is reflected in our approach which does NOT pay travel or other expenses, fees, or other compensation for performers, instructors, facilitators or artists at Dreamtime.

If you feel that you have something to offer but cannot bring your music, performance or theme camp to Dreamtime without some sort of assistance, you may consider applying here for a grant or scholarship to cover entry costs, travel expenses, materials, and so forth. Please understand that available funds are extremely limited, and only apply for the minimum that would enable you to participate. Your application will benefit if you are able to demonstrate that you are asking for the smallest amount possible and your genuine need.

Preference will be given to those applications that demonstrate resourcefulness and a true desire to participate and contribute to the festival, including:

  • Carpooling
  • Finding donated materials and services
  • Booking other paid performances/workshops/events nearby before or after the festival to cover expenses
  • Holding fundraising or benefit events
  • Finding sponsors
  • Volunteering at or prior to the festival

In the following fields, please describe your proposed performance, artwork or workshop and answer the following questions:

1. *How will it contribute to the festival and the mission of Dreamtime to inspire, educate, connect and empower people to create positive change in the world through a dynamic blend of arts, education, and entertainment. ?

2. *How does it include creativity, a positive and proactive message, and encourage participation, interaction and reflection. Describe the aspects that are multi-disciplinary and can be experienced with multiple senses or include multiple mediums, and incite people to challenge the traditional perspective of music, teaching, learning, performance and art.

3. *An itemized budget which includes travel costs, material costs, equipment rental, and expendables (fuel, water) et cetera.

9. *Please describe what you are requesting from Dreamtime. Again, preference will be given to those applications that demonstrate resourcefulness and a true desire to participate and contribute to the festival. You may consider requesting:

  • Funds for entry to the festival. Remember, everyone buys a ticket, including the organizers. If this is what you request, you are asking us, and indirectly everyone else, to purchase your ticket.
  • Funds to cover travel expenses, materials, rental equipment, etc.
  • To have food provided at the festival
